1.  Glam Hair

Shepard has never looked so great!  IMHO, this was how Shep was always meant to look. :)

2.  Miles Away Hair

Glamourazzi alert!  You better bet if my Femshep is going on a date, she’s gonna get her hair did …

3.  Wavy Hair

Another wavy hairstyle for Shep, because even with the reapers attacking, she still wants to look amazing.

7

4.  Lake Hair

Channeling her inner Veronica Lake with the long hair and the curled ends.  My personal favorite mod :)

mila

5.  Mila Hair

This reminds me of Mila Jovovich’s hair in the Resident Evil movies … sexy!  A more practical (but still cute) for all those combat situations Shep seems to get into …

6. Peggy Braid

Get a messy braid for your Femshep that says “I care but not too much” :P

1

7. Sunset Hair

Shepard is such goddamn perfection in this hair I just can’t.

2

8.  Combat Ponytail

There are some transparencies with this hair in certain scenes for light hair.  If you have a dark-haired Shepard, this mod should be OK.

3

9.  Fishtail Braid

So fresh and so clean.  Looks great with vibrant colors :)

10.  Paragon Scarring

Replace the red renegade scarring with some blue paragon scarring!  I can easily make other colors available as well – let me know!

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Included in .rar:

.tpf file*
.PSK file
.upk file
BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.pcc*

*required

I included the PSK file for anyone who wants to mess with it in 3DS Max, but otherwise, you won’t need it. The .upk file is required if you want to replace a particular hair mesh. The .pcc file is required if you just want an easy, quick install.

Required Programs:
ME3 Explorer
Gibbed Mass Effect Save Editor
Texmod

MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.pcc FILE BEFORE YOU START IN CASE YOU MESS UP.

Easy Instructions (using .pcc):

  1. Paste the BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.pcc into your game’s CookedPCConsole folder (BioGame\CookedPCConsole).
  2. Skip to Step 8 under Manual Instructions!

Manual Instructions (using .udk):

  1. Open ME3 Explorer.
  2. Open Meshplorer (Developer Tools > Mesh > Meshplorer)
  3. Load the PCC (File > Load PCC )
  4. Open the BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.pcc file located in your game’s CookedPCConsole folder (BioGame\CookedPCConsole).
  5. Click on the hair you want to replace – HMF_HIR_PROJessica_MDL. (You can replace other hairs but they can cause crashing issues so unless you’re experienced, just follow my instructions exactly).
  6. Go to Transfer > Import UDK … a new window will open. Go to File > Open UDK package and select the .UPK file.
  7. Click on the file that appears in the left window and then LOD 0 should appear in the right window. Click on LOD 0 and then go to Import LOD. A little popup should say “Done” after. Now you can close Meshplorer.
  8. Go to Tools > Tocbinupdater in ME3 Explorer.
  9. Go to File > Check PCTocbin and select your PCConsoleTOC.bin file located under your game’s BioGame folder.
  10. It should find an update and a popup will ask you if you want to update it – click yes.

OK YOU’RE DONE WITH ME3 EXPLORER!
NOW OPEN UP GIBBED.

Follow these directions to edit your hair in Gibbed using this information:

BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.Hair_PROJessica.HMF_HIR_PROJessica_MDL
BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.Hair_Short02.HMF_HIR_PROShort_Diff
BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.Hair_Short02.HMF_HIR_PROShort_Diff

OK NOW YOU’RE DONE WITH GIBBED!
ONE MORE STEP!

12. Open Texmod and load the .tpf (detailed instructions for complete n00bs here)

RUN THE GAME FROM TEXMOD AND YOUR SHEP SHOULD HAVE GORGEOUS HAIR!

  1. Hey, girl. Super stoked you have some awesome mods to offer. However, I’m running into a little bit of trouble I was hoping you could help me with. I’m trying to use the sunset hair mesh, but its doing something crazy awful. I updated the mesh, tocbin updated just fine. Edited gibbed and texmod is running all my other retextures just fine… any ideas? Here’s a pic so you can see what its doing on my poor Femshep…

  2. Hey I love these hairs! but from what I understand if I just use the pcc (the easy way of install) they all replace the same hairstyle in game correct is there a way to use more than one of these? I imagine it would have to do with replacing other meshes(using the.udk) but im not sure which meshes would be replaceable

    • Yeah, you can manually replace the other hair meshes if you like. I know that the CustomCute hairstyle is replaceable. I also heard that replacing some of the hairs make your game crash …

      • ah yeah I did some experimenting with it and it wont let me replace anyother hairs as the bones dont match. So I figure id have to go through the 3d program I may look into it eventually but for now ill just stick with one lol thanks for the awesome hairs and the reply!

      • Hello, I wanted to know if you do faces as well and if you do, can you tell me how you made your femaleshep face so beautiful? Please and thank you.

    • Hey, I followed all your steps, but when I click to resume game is just gets stuck in the loading screen forcing me to use task manager to shut it down, I’m kinda stumped now, but I really want to get this to work. Anyone else have a problem like this?

      • I have the same issue, I had an Ashley hair mod for Shepard and it was working perfectly fine and now all of a sudden it’s stuck in the loading screen and I have to force it to close with the task manager. If I take the hair out, it works perfectly fine. I don’t understand what happened :/

      • I’m suddenly having the same problem too :( Like, my current mods work fine, but if I try to replace any hair at all then I get stuck at the infinite loading screen of death. This sucks, I know I’m not doing anything differently…. 8(

      • Same here! It’s so frustrating. Task manager doesn’t even work for me to shut it down though! :c

  3. Hi. I’m having some difficulty installing the hair mods. The mesh’s seem to appear in the game properly, but it seems like there’s a problem with the transparency mapping. The hair appears as a solid mesh. Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong? Thanks!

  4. Awesome stuff really, thanks for sharing. I tried to use the combat pony tail , ME3 explorer is fine but then I get lost in the gibbed part. I can update anything, I can´t find the files to use :( maybe I need more practicing.

  5. I’m reading some comments about the hair not being the right color and similar issues. It’s important that you are launching texmod with the following instructions, as it’s a little trickier in ME3, vs than the rest of the series. I would launch Texmod like in Me2 and the hair would still show up, but it would be brown with white highlights, regardless of my character being blonde. Nothing in Gibbed would change it. Follow these instructions and it should show up correctly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyhT0MzuLmk

Sunset hair is freaking amazing btw:)

  6. Hi GPG,

Those haircuts are simply beautiful, especially the lake hair, it’s my favorite one :-)

But unforthunately I’m experiencing some trouble, and I hope you can provide some help.

I explain, after replacing pcc file, updating TOCbin file and editing hairs in Gibbed, when loading the game through texmod I neither get the retextures from your tpf file nor my own outfit retextures. Now Texmod is not working whereas it was working perfectly before I start this modding opération.

So after mutliple attempts to solve this probleme I decided to reinstall ME3 and proceed step by step to see where it has gone wrong. So I launched Me3 through texmod without replacing any pcc file and it worked just fine, all retextures selected were loaded so I figured that probleme has somthing to do with replacing pcc file but that seems strange since I already replaced pcc from other websites but didn’t get that problem.

Anyway, since texmod worked just fine I decided to go further and start pcc replacing, tocbin updating and editing hairs in Gibbed and when launching me3 trhough texmod, the same probleme occured no textures loaded. So I decided to replace the modded pcc by the original one to fix it, thinking that issue was only due to the pcc file included in your rar file. But it’s still not working, so I’m a bit lost, I can’t seem to find what could have gone wrong but somehow once I replace BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.pcc by the Lake Hair one, texmod doesn’t work anymore no matter which pcc I replace next (backup or modded). But it still work for other games though.

So I require your help, I know the solution is somewhere but I guess I just don’t know where to look at to solve this, hope someone does :-)

Finally, thank you for sharing your work, Me3 is my best game ever and your mods (outfits and hairmods) allow us to enjoy that game at 300% so I’d like to thank you for that, keep up the good work ;-)

ps: sorry for my grammar, it’s not my mother tongue

  7. Hi, I have a problem where the hair on FemShep has transparency issues and weird streaks of color. This is what it looks like: http://imgur.com/pv48Ioz
I followed the instructions strictly and retried the process multiple times. I also did the renaming texmod to masseffect3.exe process and that didn’t work. Any suggestions?

      • I saw a tutorial that said that Origin caused conflicts with texmod, and it showed a process of renaming masseffect3.exe to texmod.exe and vice versa, and then renaming them back after you loaded the textures in.

      • I have the exact same problem as Victoria. with the lake hair. tried re installing the mod many times. (btw Victoria, you dont need texmod if you follow the manual install instructions with me3 explorer.) ive tested with and without texmod and it has the same problem.
Im not really new to this – I have successfully downloaded and installed many of your beautiful mods!
Maybe i should try a different hair diff and mask? will report back :)

      • Please let me know if you figure it out – I’m really not sure what the problem is! :(

    • Victoria, if you still read this — I have the exact same problem, and I’m determined to find a solution. I’ll post it here when I have it. Or did you find a solution in the meantime? :)

    • Good — I had the same problem as Victoria had, and I tested it on several computers and found out that the textures weren’t injected properly. So, simply following step 12 of above installation instructions won’t do it for everyone. I followed the TexMod how-to on this page and it worked, my FemShep is very beautiful now and looks like she is meant to look :) I love Lake Hair! http://masseffectmodding.tumblr.com/post/53849709142/tutorial-how-to-use-texmod-with-mass-effect-3-on I think it’s best to delete my comment, Girlplaysgame, and simply expand step 12 as an option for those who need this extra step. Thanks :)

  8. Supernova, I´m experiencing the same problem. What I think the problem is, windows 8. I installed 8.1 recently and now the mods don’t work, mods that worked beautifuly on my win 7 just last week. Have you encoutered a solution yet? Do you have the game running on win 8?

  9. Hey may I have a little help here…?
The part 10 from your instruction when I do it as you describe it doesn’t appear any updates.
What can I do with that?
    Thank you!!

    • I have the same issue where after step 10 it does not detect any updates !!!

Also I want to know the “HMF_HIR_PROJessica_MDL” that we are changing is which one exactly?

  10. Hi,
I wanted to know if you could write the codes of the Shepards of the images, because they are beautiful and I can not make a female Shepard that does not look like a transsexual -.-. I would be really really grateful if you write them down.

  11. Hello, I have the same problem as HellYeahJackanda. I followed your instructions precisely. Could you please explain what’s wrong?

  12. I’m really enjoying your site – first came across it for DA mod recommendations (awesome) and now that I’m playing ME I’m back for more goodness. It’s my first time playing through the ME games and I desperately want a good looking FemShep. This may be a stupid question but, is there any way to use ME3 mods for ME2? The only ME2 hair mods I’ve found are more short helmet-esque styles and there are so many lovely options for ME3 (like yours above, swoon!)

    • I think there are ways, but I haven’t tried them :( It’s certainly not as easy as ME3 modding because no one really built a tool like ME3Explorer for it :(

  13. I want to replace 1 mod,but i don’t know what should i click after step 4?could you explain me where to click in every step?please…

  14. Hello Girlplaysgame, I’d like to start off by saying thank you for your help and detailed instructions.

I do have a small problem that I’m hoping you could help me with: at step 6, when I try to open the .upk file, the ME3 explorer program stops responding. Do you know of any solutions or alternatives?

    Thanks!

  15. OK so an update on the random shiny bright streaks of hair: I played around in the TPF utility of ME3 Explorer and tried “autofixing” the files since when you try to install the TPF as a permanent mod it says FORMAT. I’ve heard that it can fix it. Well it broke it more haha. Now her whole head is lit up like a christmas tree xD
playing with gibbed now to try and combat the shinyness but not having much luck.
Trying with the BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.Global.HAIR_Long_Diff instead….. so uhhh. there’s no random streaks or anything but using this diff breaks up the fringe into little strands… no biggie, I dont mind it but yeah its not what its supposed to look like. I think this has something to do with ME3 updates?
I might experiment with other diffs later. right now im gonna play!

      • lol wow its really hard for a perfectionist to play with this messed up hair xD

Played some more with gibbed. its definitely not a save editing problem – i loaded up my old saves from before gibbed modding, did everything right and same problem.

This reinforces my theory that its something to do with your textures being old and ME3 having had an update. I’ve reached the end of my modding knowledge and im grasping at straws here so i could be wrong, but the ME3 Explorer TPF tool AND Texmod both hate your textures D:

BTW using the latest SVN of me3 explorer

      • Hahah I know how you feel – I’m not sure if the problem has to do with my textures so much as the way ME3 does lighting in certain scenes. The hair looks fine in cut scenes usually but then the dark streaks tend to happen when in combat or moving around without cutscenes. I’ve tried fixing it by inverting the hair strands in 3dsmax but no luck. :(

  16. facecode/headmorph for #7? aka how to get a shep that looks just like that? guessing skin texture and suit textures are needed?

  17. Man, I would totally pay for a dlc in which we could use some of these hair styles. I would totally replay ME3 just to get the chance to look at my Shepard in the cinematic scenes like this! <3 e.e I hope that for ME4 they actually give it thought to the fact that some of us really like our characters with long hair, same goes for DA:I. xwx

  18. I do everything that is written but what serves. tpc? we put it where? we made what?
and when I launch the game remains in the loading ….
PS I’m french sorry for my bad English

  19. I’m willing to install the texture manually, but I’m unable to extract and to figure out the name of that fishtail braid’s place. I thought it was HMF HIR PROShort but when I did extracted it, it wasn’t on the right format.

How can I put the texture on myself, Texmod is just boring to use everytime I play. Thanks girl.

  20. I am so frustrated. I have followed these instructions vigilantly several times now, and it is just not working for me. Everything goes smoothly. I open up the game through texmod AND nothing.. Nothing has changed. I am trying to get the combat ponytail. I don’t even really know what to ask because I don’t know where I am going wrong. Please help..

    • I will also mention that I have tried to use texmod for ME1 and it never worked. So I am starting to think it is texmod. I have followed all texmod troubleshooting and guides so I am lost.

  21. I follow the instruction perfectly and I obtain a very pretty hair to my femshep. The issue i found is when femshep meet for the first time with Diana Allers in the Citadel I see have been modified Aller’s hair also because both of them use the same MDL but her look is awful. Are there any way to fix it or may be i dont know if I did anything wrong.. Please help me if this is possible .. thanks in advance.,

  22. Hello I’ve done everything right ( I believe I did) by replacing the hair file in the cookedpcconsole folder and the texmod works fine and opens the game.
But after trying to load my save it gets stuck on the loading screen.
I tried again by just reinstalling the whole game and replacing the hair, but nothing.
Could it be because that when I updated the PCConsole.bin file ? It said that there was none to update.
I could really use help and I really love this hairstyle but I’m kind of in a loop here. I would really appreciate it Thank you.

  23. Are there any custom hairstyles for ME2? I’ve been looking, but only find the basic NPC ones. It just seems sad that Shepard has to wait until ME3 to look sexy…it’s better than nothing, but I was just wondering.

P.S. Your mods look amazing btw. That hair! Wow, just WOW.

  24. Hi there, Just wanted to say thanks for the mods, and errr… I have a problem I need some help fixing my textures on the the mods I followed the guide exactly as you laid it out however, my textures come out blocky and not as they appear in your images, I was wondering if you have a solution, as it is really starting to irritate me because I want to use your mods in all there glory, thanks in advance.

    • Do you have a picture of what is happening? Most likely it’s the .tpf file not applying – this happens when you’re replacing a hair other than diana allers’ style.

  25. I have a problem. If I replace the BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.pcc file the game is stucked in the loading screen. (I did everything as it written. I used me explorer to update pcconsole, I used gibber, and textmod too). If I don’t replace the original BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.pcc file, then I can play but my Shep has ugly, bubblegum hair. Does anyone know why my game frozen if I replace the original BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO.pcc?

  26. My problem is: If I replace the BIOG_HMF_HIR_PRO file whit the moded one, than my game stuck in the loading screen. I waited 2 hours, but still nothing happend. What can I do to solve the problem?

      • Nope, I finally know, what the problem is. The mods don’t work with Collector’s Edition, but I don’t know why…

  27. Nice work gg. Unfortunetaly as the others it craps the Diana’s hair. Would be nice to mention it ahead to prevent bad surprises :/
