Mass Effect 3: New CITADEL and RECKONING DLC announced!

Oh happy day – The end of February/early March is going to be exciting for new Mass Effect content!  (see Bioware blog for full DLC details)

Mass Effect 3: Citadel – Single Player DLC

First of all, any DLC featuring the Citadel is great for me – I think it’s one of the best areas to explore in single player and the graphics are beautifully rendered.

Second, what?!  We can fight alongside Urdnot Wrex?!  Sold!  And he’s not the only old character you can reunite with in the city:

When the adventure is over, reconnect with your favorite characters from the Mass Effect Trilogy, try your luck at the Citadel’s Silver Coast Casino, blow off steam in the Armax Combat Arena, or explore and furnish Shepard’s own living quarters on the Citadel. With unique content and cinematics featuring your friends and romance interests in the Mass Effect trilogy, Mass Effect 3: Citadel offers one final chance to see the characters you have known for years and rekindle romances.

I love that you get another romance scene as well.  It might even be worth a new playthrough for me depending on how my reunion with Kaidan turns out ;)

Mass Effect 3: Citadel will release worldwide on March 5th on Xbox 360, PC and PS3 (on March 6th on PS3 in Europe). Price: $14.99, 1200MS points and 1200 BW points.

Mass Effect 3: Reckoning – Multiplayer DLC

This is super exciting – new characters, weapons, and maps for Multiplayer!

New characters: Geth Juggernaut, Cabal Vanguard, Talon Mercenary, Alliance Infiltration Unit, Krogan Warlord

New weapons:  Geth Spitfire Assault Rifle, Venom Shotgun, Lancer Assault Rifle

New equipment/mods: Geth Scanner, Assault Rifle Omni-blade

New power?:  Biotic Hammer (as Krogan Warlord)

Mass Effect 3: Reckoning launches at no additional cost worldwide on February 26th on Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3 (February 27th on PlayStation 3 in Europe).

Better start saving all your multiplayer credits now :)  I’ve got around 3 million but that was barely enough to get all the new stuff on the first day when the last DLC came out, so I’ll probably bank around 4-5 million credits before the new DLC comes out just to be safe.  I love having all the new things on the first day and having all the PUGs be jelly :)  I’m such a brat.

Are you going to download both of the new DLCs or just one or none?  Let me know in comments!

  1. I plan on getting both dlcs. I have 6 million credits saved so far. I hope to have 8 million by Tuesday. The new kits look good, especially the new geth!

  2. quick question, what should we buy on the day of the DLC with all the credits we have hoarded? spectre packs? psp? arsenal? reserves? combo of all?

    • It depends on what you already have unlocked and what you want out of the packs … credit for credit, Spectre Packs give you way more than PSPs both in terms of total UR cards and equipment/gear/etc. That being said, I haven’t done enough data collection on the arsenal and reserve packs to make an analysis of the UR rate but anecdotal evidence would suggest that arsenal packs give as a good a credit-per-UR weapon rate as SPs (assuming you already have all the uncommon/rare items maxed out). If all the DLC content is released on the first day instead of being doled out piecemeal like last time, I would do Reserve packs until all the characters all maxed out, then Arsenal packs until all the weapons are maxed out (which I think is the fastest way to get everything unlocked but also the most expensive) OR just keep buying only Spectre Packs until I have everything (will take longer but cost less).

      • Do you think the 6/6/6/6/6 builds will work with the new characters? I don’t like being unable to max out everything, maybe that’s just the OCD coming through.

      • I actually only have common/uncommons weapons maxed out. maybe 10 to 20% maxed rare weapons. gear is not really maxed. But yeah, the plan is to save up as much as possible. I figured (with your guides/posts) the spectre packs are the most cost effective. But i’m not sure if the rates will change on the day of DLC release…. Which makes me wonder if I should hedge my bets and buy arsenal/reserves packs.

      • Well if there are only 6 characters and 7 weapons it should be released all at once…I only have 2.5 mil saved up, here’s hoping that I at least get a decent amount on day one :)

  3. I like to buy all the stuff I’m missing now and not saving up,
my chances of getting n7 weapons will decrease after this dlc release.

  4. Those new classes seems quite sexy. Can’t wait to see.

Geth Juggernaut. I’m curious… I wonder if it’ll be something like the original enemy from the 1st Mass Effect, that is like a Geth Prime but with a Rocket Launchers.

I’m looking forward for that Krogan Warlord, I wonder if that Biotic Hammer will be like the ones in Halo.

  5. SWEET! Too bad my characters are lvl 1 for promoting. Can you play with me quick to level up the infiltrator? I’m on Xbox. Ferial56 for gamertag.

  6. I just read on bioware that there will be no new multiplayer mode or maps in the reckoning dlc, I really hope this is not true. Why hype us all up only to snatch away some of the awesomness a day before its release. Seems like they just want to add the final nail into me3 coffin.

    • That may be, but at least they will give us new classes with new original models, new powers, and even a playable Collector (Awakened Collector Adept). I don’t care much about new maps, though would be nice to have something different.
